Let’s be real..we all probably don’t wash our makeup brushes as often as we should! I know I don’t! But it’s important to do it anyway. Makeup in itsself isn’t the greatest for my skin, but add in all of the dirt that gets stuck in the brushes, then my skin is REALLY not a happy camper!
Since the skin is the largest organ of the body, it’s important to take good care of it. My resolution: to clean my makeup brushes monthly (since I don’t wear it everyday or very often at all). As with all other things, I prefer to go about this in a very allergen-friendly fashion: naturally.
So here’s what you need:
- 1/2 tsp. natural shampoo
- small bowl with water
- clean washcloth
- makeup brushes

This is pretty easy to do, and pretty effective! Put 1/2 tsp natural shampoo into your bowl, and mix with water. Take your makeup brush and dip it into the water, then swirl it gently on to the wash cloth. You’ll notice the makeup residues coming off onto the washcloth. (It’s actually quite satisfying!) Keep repeating this until you notice no more color being deposited onto the washcloth. Gently reshape the brush with your fingers, and let dry. Repeat with all brushes, and use again when dry! 🙂
As you can see, I really haven’t done this in ages!
How often do you clean your makeup brushes?
Love,
